Work from Gojira.
“Gojira is a portrait of the island of Izu Oshima, home of Godzilla, a préhistoric lizard born out of the two atomic bombs that were dropped on Japan in 1945.My work adopts the same attitude as the monster, a fictional creation based on history. This work revolves around symbolism and clichés; the forms and colours enable me to conjure up all that Gojira embodies : war, the atomic bomb, the ocean, anxiety and hope. The issue of scale concerns both the construction of the image and the way it is displayed. I ame sensitive to the poetry of the elements. I borrow from systematic thinking and draw attention to the fact that the atomic bomb links the infinitely small with the infinitely powerful.” -Marie Quéau
