Work from her oeuvre.
“Katleen Vinck creates stage sets, autonous installations, sculptural constructions and videos. Her sculptures are ‘strange’ combinations of architecture and artefacts reminiscent of furniture. Yet its precise function or meaning remains unknown. She taps into her photo archive of Lourdes grottos, bunkers and other constructions she finds interesting because of their artificial and constructed nature. She imitates the imitation and by doing so creates a world of odd props. Her work is full of playful assumptions on the relation between the natural and the artificial. The acceptance of the inauthentic as a response to the ‘doubtful’ quest for authenticity. In other words: what is not, to a certain degree is and, conversely, what is, is not.” – text via i heart photograph.
