Work from MC NR50 @ Grey Area Mutiples.
“Matt Calderwood has produced a new multiple with Grey Area made entirely of cast natural rubber. There are 6 identical rubber shapes in a set which can be organised and placed into infinite intriguing arrangements. The unique geometry of the 6 pieces allows us to stack and interlock and balance them in all manner of ways. There is a clear sense of play involved. Every time we see the work it is impossible to not grasp the pieces to enjoy their smell, weight and satisfying surface and to discover yet another combination. The rubber surfaces allow the elements to grip, stack, interlock and tesselate giving us the opportunity to create a new sculpture everyday.” – Grey Area
