Work from Decking the Path to Blessedness.
“The title of the work comes from a quote from the Swiss born artist, Kurt Seligmann , describing alchemy and its relation to the mid-century avant-guard where, for him, alchemy served as a symbol for spiritual harmony. The installation consists of six panels submerged like monoliths into the grassy slope of Buffalo Bayou that range in size from four by six feet to twenty by thirty inches. Stone´s photographic images resemble a cluster of rectangular galaxies emerging from the ground. The photographs were created from spilt flour sifted onto a black background and photographed under the dappled sunlight of Stone´s backyard. These improbable celestial spaces suggest the infinite can be found within the finite and that mystery can be fashioned from the most common of materials.” – via fresharts.org.
