Work from Light on the Subject (The Divided Self) and Rehearsal.
“Photographs imitate sculpture, sculpture imitate photographs. Magic is often good pretending.
Using constructed and found images, I aim to disclose and reveal photography’s ability to transform through work based on light and illusion. In these multidimensional sets I employ photographic tropes highlighting its construction and materiality, over subject. Simultaneously, I explore photography’s limitations by including prop-like interruptions, creating formal links between all parts. I would like the viewer to be absorbed by, yet question photography’s ability to transport, while undergoing the curious experience of a shifting perspective in the search for possible meanings.” – Nadia Belerique
