Work from Time Scales.
“My recent photographs explore overlaps in technological and ecological timescales. Specifically, I’m interested in the perceived disconnect between timescales and the effect this separation has on our decision-making in relation to ecological issues. These disconnects are represented in the work either through a minor intervention in a found image or through appropriating digital imagery which already suggests an uneasy collection of temporalities. While landscape photography is used as a symbol of an ecological timescale, it’s framing as an image sourced and made possible through our interface with a ‘technological’ timescale puts both in the foreground. By bringing attention to the uneasy relationship that often exists regarding time and human impact on our surroundings, these images allude to the difficulties in reconciling the advances of cultural progression and the effects it has on our environment.” – Tyler Los-Jones
